Linda Hepner has dedicated her career to public service and community leadership, helping shape Surrey’s growth and prosperity for more than three decades. After over 20 years with the City of Surrey, serving in senior leadership roles including Manager of Economic Development and Director of Corporate Services, she was elected as a Surrey City Councillor and later served as Mayor of Surrey from 2014 to 2018. Today, she represents Surrey–Serpentine River as a Conservative Party of BC MLA and serves as the Opposition Critic for Environment and Parks.
As Mayor, Linda led several transformative initiatives, including Surrey’s pioneering Coastal Adaptation Strategy—the first of its kind by a Canadian municipality—and a collaborative approach to addressing homelessness in the city. Her leadership was defined by a commitment to practical solutions, community engagement, and long-term planning.
Throughout her municipal career, Linda held several influential regional positions, including Vice-Chair of Metro Vancouver’s Mayors’ Council, Director of TransLink, and Director of Metro Vancouver. She also chaired key committees focused on public safety, mental health and addictions, and gang prevention, helping secure $7 million in federal funding for community safety initiatives. Her contributions have been recognized through numerous honours, including being named one of British Columbia’s Top 50 Influencers and being awarded Honorary Firefighter status.
A strong advocate for economic development, environmental stewardship, and community well-being, Linda has contributed to organizations such as the Union of British Columbia Municipalities, the Surrey Tourism Association, and the Recycling Council of BC during the development of the Return-It program.
