ABBOTSFORD, B.C.: Korky Neufeld, MLA for Abbotsford West, has issued the following statement on a new program from the Abbotsford Hospice and Grief Support Society:
“I strongly support the Abbotsford Hospice and Grief Support Society’s pilot to expand in-home hospice care across the Fraser Health region and potentially into every community.
As our population ages, families need more than brief daily visits – they need meaningful, compassionate support. In-home hospice care allows people to receive dignified care at home, while easing the burden on loved ones and an overstretched healthcare system.
This proven model has been successful for over 20 years in Coastal Health and Northern Health. It not only improves quality of life, but can also reduce costs by up to 49% compared to stays in the ER or in hospital hallways.
Now is the time to invest in a more compassionate, efficient, and sustainable approach to end-of-life care. The provincial government must support in-home hospice care programs. I urge the Minister of Health to act now!”
