Surrey, BC (June 7th, 2023): MLA for Nechako Lakes, Conservative Party of British Columbia Leader, John Rustad is standing with British Columbia’s healthcare workers to fight to end staffing shortages, and make permanent changes to BC’s healthcare system.
“I just watched a press conference where Minister Adrian Dix and the President of Fraser Health literally clapped for healthcare workers. What a farce. Doctors who work at Surrey Memorial Hospital are on the record as saying staffing shortages are so bad that they would not send their own family members to Surrey Memorial, because there aren’t enough workers. The hypocrisy from government is absurd, we have workers — hire them back,” says Rustad.
“When is government going to get real?”
“We need to hire back all of our healthcare workers and end the mandates. And, we need to stop pretending that our current healthcare system is sustainable. It isn’t — the status quo is putting British Columbians at risk,” continues Rustad.
“Government needs to start listening to healthcare workers, and we need to start respecting them. Let’s start by hiring back workers and canceling Bill 36, which healthcare workers oppose. Politicians need to get a grip on reality; we need to recognize that BC’s patients and practitioners need to be government’s priority, not preserving a failing system,” Rustad concludes.
