VICTORIA, BC: Conservative MLA Macklin McCall is seeking answers after a severe landslide recently struck Westside Road during the night of April 2, indefinitely closing a vital transport route and cutting-off access for his constituents.
“In my budget response, I flagged landslide risks on Westside Road as an urgent priority. Today it’s a road, tomorrow it could be a home or someone’s life,” said MLA McCall. “Once again, the NDP waited until disaster struck before lifting a finger. The lack of emergency planning and neglect of road infrastructure is unacceptable.”
Okanagan residents deserve more proactive emergency preparedness and better wildfire management. MLA McCall cited this landslide when questioning Minister Greene in estimate proceedings and will continue to hold the NDP government accountable for neglecting road infrastructure and public safety in the Okanagan.
