Gavin Dew is the Conservative MLA for Kelowna-Mission and Shadow Minister for Economic Development. Elected in 2024, he is focused on strengthening British Columbia’s economy by attracting investment, supporting innovation, advancing major projects, helping small businesses survive and grow, and enabling private-sector job creation.
Before entering elected office, Gavin spent two decades working at the intersection of business, public policy, and technology. He held senior leadership and advisory roles on major projects across British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario. His experience spans economic development, infrastructure, energy, technology, and emerging industries. His work helped organizations navigate complex challenges, unlock investment, and support thousands of family-supporting jobs.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Gavin lives in Kelowna with his wife, Erin, and their two children, Abby and Evan. His family is committed to building community through volunteerism and small business. He is a strong advocate for local priorities, including better health care, safer streets, and the infrastructure needed to support a growing region.
Gavin holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School, where his graduate research examined how organizations earn and measure social licence to operate. He has also completed executive education in crisis leadership at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
Gavin has served on the boards of the Business Council of British Columbia, Resource Works, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and Community Futures. He continues to volunteer as chair of the Veterans Transition Network, a national mental-health charity that also played a crucial role in evacuating thousands of Afghan interpreters at risk from the Taliban. His business and community leadership has earned him recognition as one of Business in Vancouver’s Forty Under 40.
