Lorne Doerkson has proudly served as the MLA for Cariboo–Chilcotin since first being elected in 2020 and earning re-election in 2024. He is honoured to represent one of British Columbia’s largest and most diverse constituencies, stretching from Anahim Lake in the west to Cherry Creek in the east, and is deeply committed to advocating for the people and communities who call this remarkable region home.
Before entering public office, Lorne built a successful career spanning more than three decades in business. He spent many years working in small business, publishing, automotive sales, and financial services, while also operating his own businesses. His practical business experience has given him a strong understanding of the challenges facing entrepreneurs, families, farmers, ranchers, and resource communities throughout rural British Columbia.
A passionate community volunteer, Lorne has dedicated countless hours to organizations and events that strengthen the Cariboo. His volunteer leadership has included serving as President of the Rotary Club, Vice-President of the Williams Lake Stampede, a director with the Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Business Association, president of the BC Community Newspaper Association, Hough Memorial Cancer Society, Cariboo Heritage Society, Harvest Fair, Hospital Gala, and many other community initiatives. He has also been a familiar voice announcing high school rodeos, Little Britches rodeos, and numerous local events. In recognition of his commitment to community service, Lorne has twice received the Community Booster Award from the Williams Lake & District Chamber of Commerce.
Today, Lorne continues to bring that same spirit of service to the Legislature, working every day to improve health care, strengthen rural economies, support agriculture and natural resource industries and ensure the voices of rural British Columbians are heard. He remains proud to call the Cariboo–Chilcotin home and considers it a privilege to serve the people of this extraordinary region.
