Peter Milobar is a dedicated BC Conservative MLA for Kamloops Centre with deep roots in the Kamloops community, and a lifelong advocate for the Kamloops community, where he lives with his wife Lianne. Together they have three grown children and four grandchildren. Peter’s longstanding connection to Kamloops is matched by his passion for public service and his active involvement in community life.
Peter Milobar’s career in politics and public service spans over two decades, marked by significant roles and achievements.
First elected as MLA for Kamloops-North Thompson in 2017 and re-elected in 2020. In the 2024 provincial general election, he was elected as the MLA for the newly created riding of Kamloops Centre.
In the legislature Peter currently serves as Finance Critic for the BC Conservative Party, with a strong focus on fiscal responsibility, economic development, and holding the NDP government accountable for BC’s record deficits and deteriorating public services. Previous critic roles include Shadow Minister for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation and Environment and Climate Change, as well as serving as Opposition House Leader.
Prior to entering provincial politics, Peter served three terms as Mayor of Kamloops, becoming the city’s longest-serving mayor. His municipal leadership included five years as Chair of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District and five years as Chair of the Thompson Regional Hospital District. He also served as a Director of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District beginning in 2005.
In addition to his municipal responsibilities, Peter represented local governments on several provincial boards and committees, including the BC Transit Board of Directors, PRIMECorp, and the Local Government Contract Management Committee.
