Korky Neufeld is an enthusiastic and hardworking individual with a diverse professional background in the political, industrial and spiritual sectors.
Born into a family of 10 children, his parents emigrated to Canada from South America in 1964 with a dream of a better life. Now, Korky and his wife of 43 years–Cynthia–have four children and two grandchildren.
Korky began his career in pastoral ministry, serving churches in Vancouver before leading a congregation in Abbotsford for more than a decade. He later built a career in the construction industry, most recently serving as a Construction Manager with ServiceMaster Restore of the Fraser Valley. In both sectors, Korky is known as a servant-leader who understands the challenges blue-collar families face.
Additionally, Korky was an Abbotsford School Trustee for 16 years, serving terms as Chair and Vice-Chair of the board. These positions allowed Korky to learn what it takes to make important educational change.
Now, Korky is setting out to make positive change in British Columbia as the MLA for Abbotsford West. With education in BC, we need to remove ideology from the classroom. Schools must be places of learning, not tools for activism or indoctrination. Additionally, we must support parent choices, as parents have the right to determine how and where their children will be educated. With BC’s chronic healthcare worker shortages, we need to prioritize funding and approval timelines for market ready degrees that will address our healthcare system’s critical shortages. Furthermore, in-home hospice care is critical health infrastructure. I support the Abbotsford Hospice & Grief Support Society’s plan to expand in-home hospice care across the Fraser Health region. Wasteful spending and red tape should be slashed, BC’s deficit must be addressed, and private growth must be facilitated.
